A Good Book

I love a ‘good read’ by that I mean a book that I can’t put down!
Reading gives me pleasure, and when you find a story that grips you all you want to do is continue, and all tasks get left behind! What a skill reading is, it enables you to learn, teaches how to spell, gives you enjoyment. How much time can be used browsing in a good bookshop or local library, looking for reference books, novels. Some writers are gifted, drawing us into the world they have created just by crafting words skilfully.

The Bible, or Holy Bible as it is named, is known today is a collection of writings which includes poems, prophecy, a history of the Jewish nation, life stories, and much much more.
The Bible has been called ‘The Good Book” because it is seen by Christians as the source for how to live, interact with each other and build a positive faith in what it promises. Jesus said, “No one is good, except God alone” Mark 10:18, and invites us to live by his example. We believe that the Bible is God’s word to everyone. We can learn life’s lessons by reading what happened to God’s chosen people, the Jews and note the many opportunities given them because they were described as His ‘ special treasure’. As Gentiles we can be included in everything God offered and benefit from the love, kindness, and mercy by reading about the example of the Jesus, whose life mirrored his Father – God.

The apostle Paul said to Timothy that  “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners”
He went on to say that because of God’s mercy he was able to ‘display his perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life’. (1 Tim 115&16).

Maybe, we can also reflect Jesus in our lives too.
