Summer holidays are here at last. You’ve decided where you are going. You know how you are going to get there. Now to decide what you are taking with you – clothes for hot weather, the beach, cold weather, wet weather, comfortable walking, evenings out in restaurants to name but a few necessities. Anything else? Something to read perhaps or the all important recharging cables for phones etc. So many things to have to think about and remember to take for those few days away from home. Of course if you are able to go abroad what about passports, visas, injections, currency. We all need the holiday just to get over getting ready for it!
Have you forgotten something?
Does the idea of forgetting something make you anxious? Do you write lists to make sure you don’t forget something important? Do you care? We are in danger of forgetting the most important thing of all. Do we say a prayer to our Heavenly Father asking for his guidance and protection on our journeys and on our time away? Do we remember to say ‘God willing we will be going on holiday to this place or that?’ Do we take God’s word with us to read from each day?
This is the most important thing to remember in our lives whatever we are planning. Our whole lives depend on what God’s future holds for us. We must remember him in everything we do.
Read Psalm 103 which tells us of the benefits of remembering God:
‘Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me! Bless his holy name!
Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits…..’
