A couple of months ago, I was driving to a friend’s house. It was a really foggy, misty morning. It felt dark and gloomy and depressing.
As I drove however, the mist started to clear. Light began to pierce through the fog, and gradually the darkness and gloominess had been replaced with bright blue skies and blazing sun! A beautiful, fresh, spring morning.
It got me thinking… that bright sun had been there all along. It was shining the whole time behind the mist and fog, and as soon as the haze started to clear, it was there.
It is the same with God. God is always there. Sometimes our vision of Him is clouded (we may feel distant from Him for some reason, we might be distracted by other things, we might feel separated from him by sin) but He is ALWAYS there. Even if we can’t always see Him or feel Him. He is there waiting for us and His light is reaching toward us. We need to allow the fog to clear and rejoice when we can feel His light and warmth on us.
Joshua 1v9 ‘Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.’
Psalm 139v7-10 ‘Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me.’
Jeremiah 23v23-24 ‘Am I a God at hand, declares the Lord, and not a God far away? Can a man hide himself in secret places so that I cannot see him? declares the Lord. Do I not fill heaven and earth? declares the Lord.’
Matthew 28v20 ‘… And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.’
I John 1v5 ‘…God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.’
