Babies have to learn many life skills in their first year or so of life. One of the biggest things they learn to do is stand up on their own and walk. Watching a youngster try this is both exciting and amusing. Parents watch with delight as their child takes those first few stumbling steps. Gradually confidence in this new found ability grows and in no time at all the baby becomes a toddler, getting into all sorts of new places and finding a world of new things to do. In only a short space of time children start running and jumping and skipping down the road towards adulthood until sadly old age and infirmity often means we lose this precious ability.
Life is full of many new steps we all have to take for the first time. Sometimes these first steps to new experiences are nervous, stumbling. Hopefully we succeed in reaching the goals we want to reach but what about the ones we should reach but we’re not sure where they are and how to get there? We need someone or something to guide our way. A map perhaps or a guide book.
If we want to arrive at God’s kingdom then God will guide us, if we let him, through his word the Bible. He doesn’t expect us to be able to get there on our own. He is there to help us along the way, showing us the right way to go and the paths to avoid. He uses his angels to watch over those who love him and try to follow him. He guides us along the path of life to eternal life if we have faith that he is there.
