Living with the shadow of coronavirus hanging over us could be testing our resilience, confidence and even making us doubt everything. Many have lost loved ones and are horrified at the huge loss of life. Tough times have come but we look forward to lockdown being lifted and things returning to something like ‘normal’.
Someone once said to me at work when we were having quite a challenging time that ‘a smooth sea never made a skilful mariner’. The apostle Paul was no mariner but knew about storms, shipwrecks and tough times. In Philippians 4 he said;
‘I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me’.
For many, God is a source of strength and comfort too.
